The Roles of the Louvre and Royal Interiors

From a military fortress of the 12th century to the greatest museum in the world, you will follow the chronology of the construction of the Louvre, which lasted almost 800 years. You will learn how Napoleon's museum turned into the largest art collection in the world. We will discuss royal life within these walls as we walk through the apartments of Anne of Austria and compare the artistic styles of the throne rooms of two kings — Henry II and Louis XIV. Through details, we will see which thematic accents were emphasized and what, on the contrary, was exaggerated and embellished. Heading to the most luxurious rooms of the Louvre - the apartments of Napoleon III (even the upholstery is preserved!) we will pass by an inner courtyard closed to visitors and try to guess its function, believe me, it will surprise you!

Art in the Louvre

The story of the main masterpieces of the Louvre Museum will start with the largest sphinx in Europe, the second of which is in St. Petersburg. In the Ancient Greece section, we will not only enjoy the Greek originals (Venus de Milo and the Winged Victory of Samothrace), which are few in number in world collections, but also learn to recognize ancient heroes in sculpture and painting. We will see five out of eight paintings by Leonardo da Vinci, acknowledged by art historians of global renown, and I will definitely tell you why the Mona Lisa is the most famous painting today. We will also see a unique sculpture hiding two secrets, discover the first 3D in painting, count all the animals in Napoleon Bonaparte's favorite painting, and enjoy the Louvre's secret masterpiece seen by only 5% of all museum visitors.
